local Sarawak dialect

yesterday, i came upon a post in a friend's blog. im guessing that was her former blog, cause i didn't see any updates to it. the recent post which dated back in 2007 was about teaching others bout our Sarawak local dialect. the type of Malay language that is mostly used in Sarawak.

at first, i thought it was kind of useful and feel sort of proud for others specially the people in Peninsular to be interested in learning our dialect. but then again, i thought - shyte. if others understand and know how to use the dialect, that could be pretty bad. why? cause we won't be able to talk bout them already! (as in other words, bitching bout them)

at one point, i have fun talking in my local dialect. most of the people here in Peninsular have this one assumption that the Borneo-ans don't understand the type of dialect they're using here. *LOL* actually, we do understand, right? come on, our Bahasa Malaysia is more fluent back in Borneo. so as our English. *grins* we aren't as uneducated, uncivilized or not modernized as most had imagined.

alright, maybe most of the Borneo-ans won't be able to understand the dialect used by those who are from Kedah, Terengganu or Kelantan. but we are able to understand though. cause the dialects are not too far from the standardized Malay language. so, yeah. we understand you.

ok. back to the Sarawak dialect. like i said, i have fun talking in my local dialect cause i can talk whatever i want specially when i need to say something very horrible. yeah, some sort like bitching but mind you - i bitch a person right in his/her face if i get really pissed. if im not, then i'll curse and throw out horrid words in my Sarawak dialect. obviously, none of them understand. oh, major exceptions for those who had stayed in Sarawak long enough for them to learn the dialect. example, Illy. *giggles* Hubby can understand a bit of here and there, enough to know what im talking bout or who im refering to. but it's very freaking funny to hear him trying to pronounce words of the so-called exotic dialect. *LOL*

oh, one hint though. when you're about to curse or say something horrid to someone from Peninsular, don't use all the nasty words like (excuse me) : kimak, pukek, cibai, etc. most of them understand those words. bad words are faster to be learned than any types of words. so, use other words like : ngegeh, bujat, kenjar, ect.

which also reminds me, not to teach Hubby lots of words. maybe i could just teach him some basic sentences or words to make fun of him. *ROFL*
