a place to call home?

thinking bout the place im staying, and very much aware it's not that worth paying for it, i went around the Net to hunt for rooms. im paying rm1300 every month for the comfort im enjoying now. i can cook, i have a mini fridge in my room. king size bed. aircond and fan in the room. attached bathroom, tv with a player etc etc. in short, it's like a hotel. minus the exclusiveness. plus, the place is freaking near to Midvalley and The Gardens, easy and near access to Bangsar and Brickfields.

but then thinking of the monthly rental, i felt it's not a good move for long-term plans. so i went hunting for room adverts in the Net and found 2 interesting options:

#1. Room in a condo in Mont Kiara

it's rm1000 per month, deposit of 1+1 (very very hard to find such deposits here!), fully furnished, fully aircond. in short, figure out - it's a condo in Mont Kiara. what else i can say? and it's only about 4.5 or 5 km from my work place. nice.

#2. Room in a bungalow in Damansara Utama

it's rm450 per month. obviously cheaper than my first option. deposit is 2+1 (that's standard for deposits in KL). that's all was told in the advert. same distance as with #1 option from my workplace. and i can move in early Dec. just nice.

ok. so i thought option #2 will be my first option. so i went to look for the place. had a very tough time to look for it. come on, it's in Damansara. expect all the heavy traffics and such. at last, i found the place.

cut the story short, here's what i've got to say:

  • it's a nice neighbourhood, but not a nice house.
  • house is so stuffy with a lot of junks that at one point, i thought the whole house is a big store room.
  • the room? not furnished except for a bed with an old mattress (which i doubt the owner will replace with a new one) and a cupboard. yeap. without fan or anything.
  • kitchen? seems like im not allowed to cook. and honestly, i hardly can find the kitchen.
  • i dont want to look and check the fridge out.
  • i have to share bathroom with others! God, spare me please.
  • i can't have much privacy. no visitors.
  • too many don'ts than do's.
  • and the whole house and room is so freaking hot! i felt like i am in hell itself.
in a nutshell, i reject the offer. no thank you mister. i'll pass your room-for-rent. after seeing the situation of the room and the surrounding, im not interested anymore.

i know im very fussy and choosy but hey, im very particular bout the place i called home. can't blame me, im a woman. and women will always be particular about almost everything. especially bout family, money, expenditure, and home. home as in household, kitchen, bedroom - everything!

so now im left with option #1. tried calling the house owner to ask if i can put in rm500 as a deposit to keep the room for me till i move in early December. but couldn't get him. i'll try calling again tomorrow and hopefully, i get a positive answer.

p/s: it's so freaking difficult to look for a nice place to live in this city. i miss my own kampung house in Miri. it's true what they say, there's no better place like home.
