Marriage Laws

I had spent hours and hours reading about laws particularly marriage and i even memorized some of it. Some which i kept personally in mind. This post might be a case of sensitive issue to some, but heck! it's still MY blog. And according to Civil Law on Human Rights, i have the rights to say or tell anything i want.

I just got to know that a Muslim man can marry a non-muslim girl with condition that the girl is either Christian or Jewish only. But a Muslim woman is not allowed to marry any non-muslim man. And the kids must be Muslims too.

In Indonesia, it used to be legal to have inter-religion marriages. But as the world becoming more global nowadays, the Muslim community had urged the government to make such law illegal; means they can't have inter-religious marriages anymore.

But it is still legal in Singapore and Australia, where most of Asians who desired inter-religion marriages, will legalize their marriage. Australia is also to host world's largest inter-religious dialogue event this October and one of the matters to be discussed is about marriage.

In other countries like United Kingdom and the United States, inter-religion marriage will only be legalized if and only if the religion(s) allows such marriage. That means other religion allows such marriage except for Islam. Conclusion, UK and US won't legalize inter-religion marriage if it involves a Muslim spouse.

I like this one the most : In India except for the states of Jammu and Kashmir, a special act had been enforced in 1955 to allow inter-religion marriages. Such act is named Special Marriages Act 1954. This act allows a Muslim, either man or woman, to marry with a non-muslim. One of the must in the act is that neither the spouse is allowed to practice binamy (no mistresses, no second spouse or such). Isn't that good?

p/s: I think im going to learn bout this law and as time pass by, i think i can continue my studies in Law :p but obviously not the local law. It's just full of crap. I think i prefer Civil Law for human rights.
